Invitation by the Congress President

Prof. Dr. Peter Huppert is head of the Institute of Radiology, Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine, at the Klinikum Darmstadt, Germany, and will act as the president of the 99^th German Röntgen Congress. The German Röntgen Congress 2018 will take place at the modern Congress Centre of the trade fair city of Leipzig, Germany.

Ladies and Gentleman, Dear Colleagues,

I would like to invite you to the 99^th German Röntgen Congress that will take place from 9 May to 12 May 2018 in Leipzig, Germany.

The motto of the congress is “Radiology connects”. This way, the congress focuses on the mediating and integrating function of radiology when it comes to connecting diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge, on bringing specialist disciplines that are part of the respective service processes even closer, but also on offering a platform to the internal and regional service networks.

The German Röntgen Congress 2018 has three thematic focuses:

• Heart and vessels: Diagnostics and intervention
• Neuroradiology: Diagnostics and intervention
• Digital communication in the field of radiology

The congress will also put emphasis on imparting basic clinical knowledge in line with radiological specialist knowledge and on the formation of diagnostic as well as therapeutic competence and presentation of new channels of communication and service.

As a matter of course, the German Röntgen Congress 2018 will provide a manifold as well as wide-ranging program for all occupational groups. You may not only look forward to already successfully implemented formats and tools such as RSNA Diagnosis Live^TM or the Interactive Learning Platform of the German Röntgen Society with digital case collections, but also to “Intervention live”, a new course offer connecting video-based case presentations with digital means to interact. Apart from that, you will have the chance to listen to numerous exciting speeches in the context of “RöKo International” and “Forum IT”.

Furthermore, I would like to seize the opportunity to bring to your attention the highlight speech of Cornelius Schmaltz, MD, Head of Unit Strategy – Health Research of the European Commission in Brussels on “Research politics of the European Union in the healthcare sector” within the scope of the opening event. Jim Reekers, MD, Professor of Radiology, AMC University of Amsterdam, will speak about “Diabetic foot perfusion imaging: The truth behind arterial tubes” as part of his radiological lecture.
